What we do

Summits

Working with business, industry, NGO and schools in national and international systems of education around the world, SusEd imagines, plans and implements international summits which address what we believe are the most urgent connected issues challenges facing humanity; Sustainability, Peace, and Mindfulness. Guided by a world class faculty, our team works with our partners to conceive, develop and implement contextualised programmes that meet the diverse needs of local regions, whilst our funding model includes a combination of corporate sponsorship and delegate fee, and enables us to offer bursaries to schools and delegates which ensures equity of access to the experience we provide. Our partner schools help organise the logistics and contribute members of staff and students to each summit’s faculty and go on to become recognised leaders on Sustainability thinking.

Consultancy

In addition we offer After Care in the form of Consultancy in areas covered during our summits, including; Infrastructure and operations, Experience of Education, Approaches to Teaching and Learning, Mindfulness and Wellbeing.

Education & Sustainability

Our Education & Sustainability Leadership programmes and summits bring together education leaders, students and teacher “champions” of sustainability, with policy makers from government, and leaders from business and industry and NGO. Following the andragogy of Otto Scharmer’s “U-Theory” delegates are challenged to consider education as part of the problem - and also part of the solution. Together, we explore the implications of Sustainability thinking for the “Where, What and How” of Education; on infrastructure, the experience of education created for the school community, and approaches to teaching and learning.

Peace

Our Education in Conflict & Post Conflict Contexts (ECPCC) summits provide challenging, immersive experiences for diverse cross sections of delegates from education, politics and NGO from around the world. Delegates are challenged to consider the relationship between education and conflict, through the lenses of theory, experiential learning and shared narratives. The experience creates opportunities for delegates to imagine and design strategies to transform conflict in their own context.

Mindfulness

Our Mindfulness and Wellbeing programmes challenge delegates to re-imagine how they can optimise their professional and personal lives. The summit experience creates opportunities for delegates to imagine and design strategies for implementing Mindfulness and Wellbeing into the daily life of their organisation in ways that reflect their context, meet their aspirations and help to redefine how they measure success.

The Education and Sustainability Leadership programme transformed my way of thinking
— School Champion, Thailand
The programme was disturbing, challenging, stimulating and ultimately inspiring. I left both empowered and determined
— Student, Cape Town
I had to critically reappraise my own practice and reorient what I do. I had been complacent. I know now that my real work is only beginning.
