In addition to this, he has published a number of articles and blogs on the importance of a truly holistic education, something which he believes should be the holy grail for schools and he has presented this in different schools around the world. Academically, John is a trained Geographer and is a fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and has been an examiner for IB Diploma Geography for the last twenty years. Sustainability has always been a focal point in Geography syllabi that John has taught. However, he believes that sustainability in schools must mean more than references to it in a syllabus (important though that this), it must be reflected by school decisions and practice and a student's understanding of their own contributions to this.
