SusEd’s inaugural United Kingdom Education & Sustainability Leadership Summit (UKESLS) took place between 17-19 May 2021 and took the form of a series of lectures, workshops and seminars from world experts in climatology, sustainable business modelling and education.

Summit Aims

  • To develop a clear vision of how your organisation can become an agent for change.

  • To explore and develop new strategies for incorporating sustainability into your organisation’s strategic plan.

  • To emphasise the deep moral purpose of education, with specific reference to the current ‘climate crisis’.

  • Drawing upon existing innovative practice, to explore alternative curricular approaches that may be better suited to educating for a sustainable future.

  • Through the lens of sustainability, to cultivate a new appreciation of the relationships among approaches to teaching and learning, the curriculum and school infrastructure.

  • To explore the role that collaboration among schools, industry and government can play in pursuit of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

  • To become part of a network of leaders in education and sustainability, and part of an ‘Active Alumni’ who are committed to the idea of sustainable leadership and educating for a sustainable future, and the further development of the programme.
