The International School of Florence

The Inaugural Italian Education & Sustainability Leadership Summit

at the international school of florence (Italy) from June 12 - 14 2020.

Following on from a successful 2019 summit in Berlin, as well as earlier summits in Cape Town (2017) and Singapore (2015), the Italian Education & Sustainability Leadership Summit aims to bring together educators, students, and policy makers to reflect hard on the role they each play in shaping a more sustainable future. The planet and it’s people face a crisis of unprecedented scale, urgency, and complexity. What role can and must the education sector play in responding to the impending crisis?

The education sector needs to reflect hard and fast on what it teaches, how it teaches, and where it teaches. Designed in collaboration with the University of Cambridge Institue for Sustainability Leadership and the University of Cape Town, the programme's conceptual framework offers three days of strategic engagement on the subjects of leadership and organisational culture; curriculum design and pedagogy; and school infrastructure, led by an experienced, expert faculty drawn from the worlds of sustainability and education.

Who can apply?

This year we are inviting a maximum of eighty delegates from around the world to partake in the intense three day programme, designed for educators, policy makers, and students alike.

For those at an institute for education (high school, univeristy, etc.), we have space for 12-15 delegations, each of which is a cohort of 5 including the principal or CEO, the bursar (or equivilent), a sustainability ‘champion’ teacher, and 2 students.

We recocgnize that not every organization will be in a position to send a cohort of 5, and this should not dissuade anyone from applying.

Dates: June 12 - 14, 2020

Location: The International School of Florence (Florence, Italy)

Cost per Delegate: 200€ (does not include accommodation in Florence or transportation to/from summit)

Bursaries: We are offering a limited number of full and partial bursaries to attend the summit, so that financial status does not bar one from the discussion. If you, or one of your delegation thinks they are in need of one, please submit an application, and then contact us at hello@sused.org. Explain how you, or one of your delegation, would benefit from a bursery, and how circumstances would prevent you from otherwise attending.
